John Hensala, M.D. has been in practice in San Francisco for almost two decades, providing adult, adolescent and child psychiatry. His approach is client-centered, insight-oriented, and sensitive to the needs of the individual. He provides both psychotherapy and medication evaluation and treatment,when appropriate. His practice serves both individuals and families, including those with gay and lesbian members (parents or children).
John Hensala, M.D. received his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his medical school training at Northwestern. He trained in adult psychiatry at Yale University and studied child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco.His areas of specialization include Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder, mood and anxiety problems, and the coming out process for gay men and lesbians.
